How to Treat Mites Inside the Nose
While some of our bird mite callers experience random stinging and crawling sensations, others have trouble keeping these micro tiny attackers out of their noses. If you're facing this situation, talk to your doctor about using one of the following holistic approaches.
Vicks VapoRub is popular but not necessarily safe
Vicks VapoRub is the most common nose treatment described by callers who are bothered by bird mites in the nose. Although Vicks is safe for placement between the nose and upper lip, the manufacturer warns not to apply it inside the nose, as it can be absorbed into the body through mucus membranes. VicksVapoRub is best used as a repellent to keep mites from entering nostrils, not as a "treatment" to spread inside the nose. Consult your doctor before using products in ways the manufacturer never intended.

Nasal spray with grapefruit seed extract
It has long been known that grapefruit seed extract is powerful against fungus and parasites, but it shouldn't be used full strength near mucous membranes. Gone are the days when holistic health nuts must guess how much extract to mix with glycerin and other carrier agents to produce an effect. There is now a grapefruit seed extract formula created especially for the nose. Read reviews carefully and discuss any new regimen with your doctor.

Anecdotal evidence suggests that probiotic nasal spray can help
If a fungus loving critter (springtail, fruit fly, fungus gnat) makes its way into your nose, it's handy to know that probiotic nose drops are effective against fungal nose infections. Some of our callers have described using probiotic nose sprays to handle such circumstances, but you should always consult a doctor before beginning a new regimen.
